The aim of the National Service Scheme is education through community service. It offers the youth wonderful opportunities to help the poor and the weaker sections. It undertakes social service activities, work camps, and conducts social awareness classes, socio-economic surveys and leadership camps.
The NSS unit has been successfully functioning in the College. Membership to the NSS is voluntary but strictly selective. There are two units of 100 members each. Applications for enrolment are called for by the programme officers of the units at the beginning of each academic year. Membership in the NSS and certificate to that effect from the university will be treated as additional qualification while making recruitments to public services. The aim of the scheme is to create social awareness and personality development among the students.
Work camps, social service activities are organized on a regular basis. The Volunteers have to attend 240 hours of work and the 10 day special camp. Such students will be awarded grace marks and certificates by the M.G. University.
